The recently launched National R&D Survey 2001/02 fiscal year has been awarded international status by being captured in the Main Science and Technology Indicators (MSTI) publication. This publication is prepared by the Economic Analysis and Statistics division of the OECD Secretariat in collaboration with the Working Party of National Experts on Science and Technology Indicators (NESTI). The publication contains the main data series selected from OECD countries, and a few non-OECD countries of which South Africa is one. This is a major achievement for South Africa as the publication is universal and will attract attention from other corners of the world on South Africa’s performance in Science and Technology. Investors across the globe will also be able to recognize South Africa’s competitiveness or lack thereof by viewing this data. The National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI), will be in a better position to perform a comparative analysis across countries as requested by the Minister. |
