Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Delegation

OECD delegation before the first interview, 28 August 2006
The delegation is visiting South Africa from 28 August to 8 September 2006 as part of the OECD peer review of the South African National System of Innovation (NSI). The aim of the review is to get an independent and comparative assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the NSI, identify good policy practices and to formulate recommendations that will optimise South Africa's innovation policies and instruments.
The review consists of three main stages:
- The background report, written by NACI in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology. This report was finished and submitted to the OECD
- The site visit of the delegation. During this time they will interview stakeholders in the South African NSI, amongst others, science councils, vice-chancellors of universities, government officials, senior representatives of big companies, like ESKOM, SASOL, BHP Billiton and Telkom; as well as site visits.
- Writing of the final report (OECD)
