WORKSHOP ON THE 2026 AUDIT OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN BIOECONOMY SECTOR
The National Advisory Council on Innovation's latest audit of the South African bioeconomy sector report evaluates the progress of the sector since the launch of the South African Bio-economy Strategy in 2014. The indicators used in the audit examine growth, employment, export and investment measures, as well as innovation. The report is meant to assist the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation and the entire national system of innovation to identify key systemic barriers and enablers to the growth of the South African bioeconomy sector. It also provides evidence to inform policy and strategic interventions to advance the sector. Stakeholders from government, academia, industry, science councils, civil society and international partners will reflect on the audit's findings, share perspectives, and identify practical actions to accelerate the bioeconomy sector in South Africa.
Facing the facts: Women's Participation in the National System of Innovation
The roundtable discussion will provide an opportunity for stakeholders from government, academia, industry, science councils and civil society to reflect on the report's findings, share perspectives, and identify practical actions to accelerate transformation and strengthen diversity and inclusion across the NSI.
