IRG launches the South African Science and Technology Indicators 2010.

The South African Science and Technology Indicators 2010, an update of the 2009 report, provides an overall picture of South Africa’s National System of Innovation by presenting statistical data relating to trends and performance. This report should be seen as a collection of the core innovation indicators and includes extensive data obtained from a wide spectrum of data analysts and performance evaluators.

NBAC Position statement on Genomic Sovereignty in South Africa

A National Biotechnology Advisory Committee (NBAC) releases a position statement on “Genomic Sovereignty in South Africa”

Genomic sovereignty is the capacity of a people, a country or nation to own, to control both access to and use of, samples, data and knowledge concerning or emanating from genomic material. This definition pertains to genetic material of human, animal and plant origin.
