NACI hosts a Stakeholder Consultation Workshop

Dr Azar Jammine, a member of the National Advisory Council of Innovation (NACI), will present the 2014 South African Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Indicators booklet in Pretoria on 15 May.

This annual publication outlines the performance of South Africa’s innovation and its impact on the economy. The 2014 report covers mainly data for the period 2004 to 2014, which allows for a proper trend analysis over a period of time.

The launch will take place during a stakeholder consultation workshop, which will also discuss the draft National Innovation Portal Framework, intended as a credible central repository for innovation-related data.

The South African Science and Technology Indicators 2010, an update of the 2009 report, provides an overall picture of South Africa’s National System of Innovation by presenting statistical data relating to trends and performance. This report should be seen as a collection of the core innovation indicators and includes extensive data obtained from a wide spectrum of data analysts and performance evaluators.

Measuring and Monitoring Innovation in South Africa

22 October 2009, 9:00 – 16:00, at STIAS in Stellenbosch

The National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI) held an expert workshop on Measuring and Monitoring Innovation in South Africa on 22 October 2009 at STIAS in Stellenbosch. The overarching objective of the NACI workshop was to contribute to the development of indicators that could be used to track broad-based innovation in South Africa. It was also envisaged that the outcome of the workshop would contribute towards raising the awareness of the general public regarding the significance of innovation.

The workshop brought together a number of local and international experts on science, technology and innovation measurement in a developing and developed country context.
